** WINTER BREAK UPDATE 28/6/09** As noted in the diary entry below left....I'll be away again for 3 months this winter starting early July. My last day at work will be Saturday July 4th. The cutoff date for ordering boards that will be ready before I leave has now passed. I have already begun accepting orders to go on my wait list for when I return in the first week of October. I normally return to 40--50 orders. If you wish to go on my wait list...we require a $50 deposit.....simply call or email me and we will go through the details of your order together. Tuesday, 21 April 2009 POLITICAL The recent arrival of refugees in Australian waters has once again flushed out the true colors of the Federal Liberal Party. The whining,uninformed,ignorant,inhumane and fear mongering rubbish initiated by the Liberal frontbencher Sharman Stone has of course been taken up by Turnbull and his lackey’s. Naturally Turnbull’s rhetoric has not yet been particularly vehement……as he waits to see how the public responds,and hence how much political mileage can be made from the misfortune of others. Memories of the Tampa and Howard’s and Reith’s lies come back to me full force. These latest ocean arrivals are primarily from Afghanistan. The previous Howard government’s treatment of refugees is well known……and well despised by intelligent and humane observers. It is now a matter of public record that those detainees who were denied refugee status and essentially bribed by Howard to return to Afghanistan…..were in fact legitimate. Some have since been killed in Afghanistan by their original persecutors. Would senator Stone and Malcolm Turnbull prefer that we use the Thailand solution to refugees? Just put the Burmese on a boat and push them out to sea……or beat them up first…..or just shoot them. Well Liberal’s…..what do you reckon? Having travelled briefly within Afghanistan in the 90’s during the civil war(I wasn’t with Hicks)….I have had some first hand experience of conditions there. Not good. Conditions in the majority of the country are not significantly different now. Let us treat these people humanely……listen to them/assess their situation and credibility….. and then decide. Rather than use them for cheap political gain. INDUSTRY I’ll be away again for 3 months this coming winter…..July/August/September. Whilst at this stage my plans are still fluid, I’ll likely be in south Sumatra surfing first off(at the Freeline land camp)……and then after a rest……back to the Indian Himalaya for some more high altitude trekking and wandering.
